Free Colorectal Cancer Screening Kit During March 2020

Colorectal cancer, also known as colon cancer, or rectal cancer, is any cancer that affects the colon and the rectum. Cancer starts when cells in the body start to grow out of control. Cells in nearly any part of the body can become cancer, and can spread to other areas of the body. Colorectal cancer symptoms depend on the size and location of the cancer. Some commonly experienced symptoms include changes in bowel habits, changes in stool consistency, blood in the stool, and abdominal discomfort and more. The American Cancer Society estimate that about 1 in 21 men and 1 in 23 women in the United States will develop colorectal cancer during their lifetime. This is a serious issue and needs to be addressed and taken more seriously in our community.

These are all concerning matters for the RL Jones COC. But there is good news here! We have teamed up with The American Cancer Society and Michigan State University (Division of Public Health) to provide cancer screening kits at the RL Jones COC. They will be available during the month of March, they are easy to use from home and they are absolutely FREE! Please dont pass up on this opportunity to either make sure you are clear of cancer or that you CATCH cancer before it’s too late!
